babes and brutes

Yes that was me being a stereotypical receptionist cracking gum and filing my nails today. I am not going to do this type of work anymore after this year (mark my words) but I figured I owed myself one good nail filing session before my career ended.

This year is gonna be the year where I realize I am not afraid and start swaggering that way. I'm already feeling really tough and ready to be mouthy and badass if someone fucks with me. That's what a little Diamanda Galas and 3-4 days of weightlifting a week can do. The other thing it did was remind me that I really do love big lughead guys. I watched this video on Youtube of The Good, The Bad, and The Queen, and (man!) something about Paul Simonon (bassist for The Clash and TGTBATQ) with that big shiner and missing teeth was just hot to me. It was cool to read on the Paul Simonon wiki page:

He is credited with coming up with the name of the band (The Clash) and was mainly responsible for the visual aspects such as clothing & stage backdrops.

Often described during this period as 'the most handsome man in London'

HOT.

Note to all style-challenged guys, study this man.

In case you couldn't tell, I've been listening to this album non-stop since I got it. It's like the first album I've heard in a long time that is well thought-out and ABOUT SOMETHING. People really didn't realize how political and biting Blur was with social commentary on British life for whatever reason. This time around possibly because of Paul Simonon and Tony Allen (of Fela Kuti's Africa 70) it's all clicking as an album with substance from people with real thoughts in their head. Very exhilirating. More more.

I've had the CD since last Thursday and I haven't listened to it once. It's still in its shiny plastic casing and all that.

I don't know why, but I just haven't been feeling in that somber, hypnotic mood that TGTBaTQ set me in judging from the four tracks I heard.

We'll see.

haha, what about 3-4 days of weightlifting WITH Diamanda Galas? maybe I'll talk to my pal at the gym, he's always said he could get a few guest passes if I want 'em! and I'll probably be back up in B'lyn soon.

I think Diamanda Galas might be in that sacred area inhabited by Morrissey, Slavoj Zizek, and a few others who I'd never want to meet for fear they would not like me. :)
